Our social investment programme ‘Action for Qatar’ is closely aligned with goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
By drawing on the global knowledge and experience of the Maersk Group and by working with local partners, we are delivering tangible, sustainable, long-term benefits to Qatar and its people, through high quality social investment programmes in health, education and the environment.
Action on Health: addresses some of Qatar’s biggest public health and social welfare challenges, such as diabetes and road safety. Programmes include Action on Diabetes, One Second! national road safety and the Schools Olympic Program.
Action on Education: supports diversification and growth of a knowledge-based society via local skills, capacity and leadership development, with a key focus on promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines among Qatar’s youth. Programmes include Dhia, Al-Bairaq, Qatar Society of Petroleum Engineers, GO ROBOT, EBDA leadership and Teach for Qatar.
Action on Environment: focuses of preserving Qatar’s natural environment, particularly the biodiversity of its offshore marine environment. Programmes include the Qatar Whale Shark Research project, the Maersk Oil Chair in Environmental Engineering, water treatment research at Qatar University and support to Al Zubarah UNESCO World Heritage Site.
